Subject: Shaban to challenge Himes in Fourth District

Good Luck John! You've already done more for veterans in two months than Congressman Himes has done in 4 years. You have my vote. Gene Clarke

Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. Jim Himes will be challenged by Redding Republican state Rep. John Shaban in November

You can learn very much about a man when you watch how he relates to children. I had the honor of coaching football in the same program with John Shaban for many years. I watched how he took such pride in teaching the game to everybody. He taught the kids not only football but life lessons such as sportsmanship, team work and the importance of hard work. He taught the kids to respect their opponents, their coaches and themselves. I saw how the players gained confidence and self respect and how so many of his former players have grown into great young men. He gave literally hundreds of hours each season to these young men and he never wanted any credit for the success they achieved on the field. John is a great leader who will do so much for our State -SHABAN FOR CONGRESS !!!

I am writing to tell you that my husband and I plan on voting for you. I am also asking you to please make affordable health care in this state a priority. Obamacare is crushing individuals and small businesses. My husband and I are both self employed and last year we paid $1425.00 per month in premiums for the two of us and our 16 year old son. We were recently informed that our premium is going up to $2100 per month next year...a 50% increase! I wrote to my current congressman and representative and neither has responded. I know we are not the only ones in this situation and I sincerely hope that you will take action to help Connecticut residents and to undo the mess Obamacare has created

John trying you again. Reason I'm contacting you is concern with lack of investment and vision with the states infrastructure. Specifically Fairfield Counties access to NYC. This should be one of the keys areas of focus. My partners and I are about to close on a $5m commitment to build a state of art athletic facility. Concerned about this state. So hoping you can let me know people to bug and pester until we get our act together. Hope you had a nice summer. Brian

Thanks for the note. Yes the failure of our state and federal leadership to focus on our transportation needs is shocking. Four years ago we dumped $600 million into a needless bus way upstate and left Fairfield County without. That's the kind of resource mismanagement I am trying to fix. Keep sending me links!

Eventually all of these kids that are heading into NYC to work as 20 somethings will eventually get married and have kids and they will then look at north jersey, long island, westchester and fairfield counties. 60 minute commutes are the key.. RT 7 needs to be the Merritt parkway etc... not a one lane parking lot which takes 45 minutes to go from Redding to SoNo. Obviously the time to invest is now....... not when they start the hiatus back to the burbs.
Tax policies that drive out business (Aetna I think will be next...) blah, blah, blah.... Have fun!

We commend Representative Shaban for his accomplishments for Easton and his dedication to helping to solve town problems. John sponsored the first bill regulating tower siting signed by Governor Malloy this spring. Recently he met with Easton neighbors to discuss how to best serve Easton in facing an application for a telecommunications tower sited on town land. As a member of the Environment Committee of the Legislature, John can protect, preserve and further our interests by continued participation.

He supports town siting choice and limiting the power of CT Siting Council. Please vote for Representative John Shaban, a powerful advocate for Easton.

Last week Shaban also received endorsements from democrat Dr. Kathy Gombos of Easton, a local public school principal, and democrat Keith Gallagher of Redding, himself a former public school teacher. Gombos’ endorsement letter stated: “As a life-long democrat, parent, educator and 10- year Easton resident, I once again support his reelection.” She added that Shaban worked with her to learn about last year’s education bill. “He sought counsel of local educators when considering the education reform bill, rather than acting on assumptions.”

Shaban also received a personal endorsement from Dr. Candice Benyei, owner of Whimsy Brook Farm in Redding and president of the Fairfield County Farm Bureau, and Leeland Gray of Grey Friesian Farms in Easton. Benyei called Shaban “a level-headed advocate for open-space and environmental preservation, two things dear to the heart of Reddingites.”
